Do you know why Christ Suffered, Died, and Rose? // / ¿Sabes por qué Cristo, Sufrió, Murió, y Resucitó?

Jesus suffered, died, and rose to reconcile us to the Father, reveal the full measure of divine love, defeat sin, death, and the devil, and inaugurate our new life of grace. Not because God was constrained by an external necessity, but because it was most fitting (conveniens) that our healing come through the obedient, self-giving love of the Son. On the Cross, Christ offers perfect satisfaction in love—an act of obedience “to the point of death” that outweighs the offense of sin—while at the same time manifesting the Father’s mercy. He recapitulates our story, reversing Adam’s “no” with his definitive “yes,” and, in entering death, breaks its tyranny and disarms the powers.As High Priest of the New Covenant, he offers himself once for all—the New Passover made sacramentally present in the Eucharist. The Resurrection is essential: the Father vindicates the Son, reveals him in power, justifies us, begins the new creation, and pours out the Spirit for the Church’s mission. This is the one saving work of the Trinity—the Father sending, the Son offering, the Spirit applying grace—into which we are incorporated by Baptism, nourished in the Eucharist, restored in Penance, and conformed daily as we take up our cross in love.

Jesús sufrió, murió y resucitó para reconciliarnos con el Padre, revelar la plena medida del amor divino, vencer al pecado, a la muerte y al diablo, e inaugurar nuestra nueva vida de gracia. No porque Dios estuviera constreñido por una necesidad externa, sino porque era sumamente conveniente (*conveniens*) que nuestra sanación llegara a través del amor obediente y de entrega total del Hijo. En la Cruz, Cristo ofrece una satisfacción perfecta en el amor —un acto de obediencia «hasta la muerte» que supera la ofensa del pecado—, manifestando al mismo tiempo la misericordia del Padre. Él recapitula nuestra historia, revirtiendo el «no» de Adán con su «sí» definitivo y, al entrar en la muerte, rompe su tiranía y desarma a las potencias.Como Sumo Sacerdote de la Nueva Alianza, se ofrece a sí mismo de una vez para siempre: la Nueva Pascua hecha sacramentalmente presente en la Eucaristía. La Resurrección es esencial: el Padre reivindica al Hijo, lo revela en poder, nos justifica, inaugura la nueva creación e infunde el Espíritu para la misión de la Iglesia. Esta es la única obra salvadora de la Trinidad —el Padre enviando, el Hijo ofreciendo, el Espíritu aplicando la gracia— a la cual somos incorporados por el Bautismo, nutridos en la Eucaristía, restaurados en la Penitencia y conformados día a día al tomar nuestra cruz con amor.
